The third week of June, Conrad, Casey and Carrie and their families invited me to join them for a long-awaited trip to the California redwoods! Conrad's brother and sister-in-law, the Ulmers, joined us. It was great fun. We stayed at Jedediah Smith State Park in Crescent City, the northernmost coast of California. It was an 11-hour drive from Ontario. We stopped at Crater Lake in Oregon on the way, passed through Grant's Pass and Medford, and met up with the Sniders driving down from Yakima.

It was wonderful! The redwoods have a special sort of stately peace and although there were many campers nearby, it didn't seem like it was crowded. The ancient trees were awesome and beautiful. It was a treat to spend time with five of my darling grandchildren, and watch my grown children carry something off with such good planning and good humor.
Thanks for inviting me!
