Dear Ones,
I've never posted on a blog before, so don't expect much. Also, don't hold your breath for any photos!
It's wonderful to be out of school and on summer vacation. What a relief!
I always do something very entertaining with my AP students after the AP test in early May--I have them put on a Shakespeare comedy, Twelfth Night. This is the play that was adapted into the movie She's the Man. The most hilarious thing about it is that the group that does each act can choose the setting for it, so this year I had one act set in Middle Earth, one on the beach, one in the Old South, one with pirates, etc. The students really throw themselves into it with backdrops and costumes, and this constitutes their final for my course. One of the funny things they did involved one character throwing down a ring and another picking it up. Since this group set their act at the beach, they had a character find it with a metal detector. They thought of a
lot of very clever things, and everyone had a ball!
Two big events are coming up for the Davis family: one is the Blair and Susan Davis Family Reunion, the last three days in July, and the other is Stephanie's wedding one week later, on August 7!
We are delighted to have ALL of our posterity and their families coming to be with us for three days (or more). The schedule includes a family portrait, a day at Disneyland, a trip to the beach, and lots of talking and enjoying each other. We are especially happy that Mom and LaMar can make it. With them and Stephanie's fiance, the total will be 29!
Stephanie and Ryan Gardiner just recently announced their engagement and will be married in the Los Angeles Temple. He's a BYU student in psychology and a returned missionary (Chile) whose family lives in Valencia. Stephanie received her pink slip for her teaching job in California, so she lined up a job at Bingham High School in Salt Lake for fall. She and Ryan will live in Salt Lake and he'll commute to BYU. We really think he's a terrific choice for her.
Blair and I just returned from a trip to Utah to see a nephew married. It was wonderful to have a chance to visit with Blair's dad and his wife as well as Mom and LaMar. Isn't family just the best??

Feddock Letter - June 2009
Dear Family,
I SAID IT. I said it for the first time. I said, "Sure Mikey, I'll play that with you. Could you go get my reading glasses?" I'm depending more and more on my drug store reading glasses as type gets smaller and fuzzier. Oy. I'm about to become one of those ladies that wears them around her neck. That's not so bad, is it?
I quit my job at The English Rose restaurant for the summer to be home with Bub. I did that last summer and will probably go back in the fall, just working two lunchtimes a week again. 
I continue to do graphic design at home which I so enjoy. I've done two full-color brochures for our local Boy Scout council recently and am working on a couple of others now. One of them was a Cub Scout brochure and I just happened to have the perfect picture of Mikey to include. We had gone to a scout family overnighter and, of course, I was taking pictures all over the place. So there's one of him in his uniform shooting a BB gun.
My days in the stake Relief Society are numbered. They should be sustaining a new presidency within the next couple of weeks, and I'm glad. I'm so ready for a change. It's been almost five years. 1.5 years as a counselor and almost 3.5 as The Big Cheese (-y One).
Michael-the-hubby has a new calling as Elder's Quorum teacher. He doesn't like teaching but he is so good at it. He'll teach once a month. We're going to Seattle soon for him to run a half marathon. His sister and her hubby live there. They live RIGHT on the edge of a forest. Michael has a new pair of shoes for running/work you might find VERY interesting. Take a look www.vibramfivefingers.com His are all black. A little scary at first glance. Of course when you wear toe shoes, you have to wear toe socks. He says the toe socks are SO comfy! Just don't wear the shoes to church, is all I ask.
Breanne finished her first year of community college. She works part-time at a nearby drug store. She walks to work, it's only 1/2 mile away. They love her there. She enjoys helping the customers and we like her discount.
Bree bought herself an electric violin. She has always wanted to learn to play the violin so she has one now. Being electric you can plug headphones into it and play silently. Besides, it's really unique-looking. She is the Relief Society pianist in the singles ward she attends. I don't like being a threesome at church without Breanne. This apron string this is icky. Ew.
B's boyfriend, Jack, who was baptized last year just received his mission call! He is so on fire about the gospel. He is going to Tampa, Florida, Spanish speaking. He already speaks Spanish.
The little Bubster Meister just finished 2nd grade. He also just finished his first year of Cub Scouts. I could just eat him up in that uniform. I completely understand mothers eating their young. Bring those cheeks over here, son! Or that neck!
He is going to take a tennis class over the summer and hopefully swimming which I've put off for too long. I've also started guiding him through a beginning piano book and hope to find a real teacher soon. He's doing great.
We got ourselves a digital piano a couple of months ago and finally just got rid of our giant upright. There's a little more space in the kids' room now. The digital is much smaller but has a full-size, 88 key keyboard. It sounds and feels like a piano but you can turn the volume up and down. This is a good thing in an apartment situation. Breanne was even playing it last night at midnight with headphones on so nobody could hear it. Not even us. Nice!
A couple of Family Nights ago a friend of Michael-the-hubby's took us shooting at a range. Little Michael was SO excited! We all were. Breanne recently inherited a rifle (30-06 for you gun people). It's your average hunting rifle. She brought hers along (we don't keep it at home, by the way). Well, Mikey and I had NO idea how loud and powerful those are! Hubby shot first and my primary ear protection was clearly not enough. I put headphone thingies on over my ear plugs. It was a little scary. I could actually feel the shot in my pant legs. It turned out Mikey and I didn't shoot at all. In fact, there were tears. Mikey was SO conflicted. He wanted to shoot so badly, yet it was too loud and scary. Even with ear protection. He and I walked across the parking lot, AWAY from the sound, and walked along The Bay which was right there. We'll go back another time when the friend brings his smaller hand guns. I'm telling you, I had no idea these guns were so powerful! And he says they are moderately-powered guns. There are others that would put these to shame.
On Saturday of April Conference, some Robinsons, Pimentels, and Feddocks had a little visit in San Carlos.

Time Magazine Article
Has anyone seen the new Time magazine article about the church and gay marriage? Ron's brother Jay is featured in the article as a member and Prop 8 supporter. Here is a link:

There is a picture of Jay and Colleen if you flip through the pictures in the link for pictures inside a Mormon ward.
The guy that wrote the article had an agenda, but was very impressed with Jay and his family and the article came out mostly positive, but got a few things wrong. The general authorities sent the Times reporter to Jay for the interview. I think they spent a few days together.
Jay and Colleen are headed out to be mission president for the Berlin, Germany mission reporting on July 1.

My front of the garage garden spot. You can see a Black Lace Elderberry and the Bloodgood Japanese Maple. There will be hydrangeas and coneflowers blooming, and I planted a dogwood tree. Clint bought the shell hanging in Hawaii.

What a week! I had my campus class final today. Although I will have assignments dribbling in for the next week from procrastinating students. I will have an online summer class which isn't too much trouble, then a month off so we can go visit Jeff and Brielle in West Lafayette.
Today I got a summons for grand jury duty in Portland once a month for the next 18 months! I was traumatized all day. This is an 800 mile round trip through two mountain passes. On top of another jury summons to Pendleton, which is only a 330 mile round trip. What do these people want from me? I have written a strongly worded Please Excuse Me Permanently letter to send.
The weather has been warm but we've had lots of rain this spring, which makes everything look lovely and green. I included some photos of my garden. It is very inviting and we have people slow down as they drive by to look at it.
As far as the transmission line problem we were having since last October, Idaho Power finally believes we're not going to give up, and is now starting over its entire process by having "community advisory teams" choose the route. Since Clint is on one of the teams, it won't be anywhere near our house! But it's not over yet. I'm still keeping my blog going, http://stopidahopower.blogspot.com/ We've gotten involved with other groups around the state who want our clout to help them, and I get interesting stories and phone calls from people. Who knew I would become a famous radical activist?
We've been helping Casey and Katie get ready to move to Germany in early July. They were going to stay until after their baby girl was born, but Casey has to take a class in September and they wouldn't be able to get the baby's birth certificate, passport and visa for months, so they're going before she is born. Katie's father is an OB in the military and was able to make arrangements for them. Casey was 11th on a list of hundreds of applicants for a full scholarship, so he got the $55,000 for two years. The MTC still has him working for them. His field of computational linguistics is the cutting edge of computer languages, so he will be in high demand when he graduates. I will sure miss Elsa sitting on my lap during Sacrament Meeting! Clint will miss Casey being amazing help on the farm
Three of my childrens' families planned a trip to the redwood forest this June and invited me to come along! I guess they figured I could be the Grandma tent leader! It will be fun.
Clint is enjoying his calling as Stake Sunday School President. He figures that even though there isn't much direction in the handbook, he still likes visiting other wards so it's a good excuse! He's been teaching Gospel Doctrine for three years and does an excellent job.
